What’s new in 2.0.7 ?

August 23rd, 2008 Sub Leave a comment Go to comments
This is a recommended update !
  • Compatibility with My Category Order added.
  • I’ve added some links to Category Icons’s blog.
  • You can now sort a column of the category icons table by clicking its header. If you want to come back to the initial sort state, refresh the page.
  • The widget is now embedded in category-icons.php. The file category-icons_widget.php is not needed anymore, so you just have to activate only the plugin itself (the widget is automatically activated when you activate the plugin).
  • The check for the field priority is removed. May be it will avoid some issues with MySQL…
  • The “Template Code” tab is renamed “Template Tags”…
Update :
  • Italian language updated by Gianni. Thank you Gianni !!!
  • Turkish language added by Selim Basak.

    Help! (WordPress 2.6.1)

    @Jörg

    These are errors from the Category icons plugin update or after an upgrade to WP 2.6.1 ?

    Try desactivate it first. If it does not work, I suggest you to update it manually (ftp upload). I’ll look at the issue. If this is a bug, I’ll release a new version. Thank you for reporting me the thing.

    Is there a way to add alt text to the category icons?

    @Christine

    Not directly : you can use the SEO Friendly Images (look in the sidebar for the download link). Once you’ve activated the SEO F.I., go to Category Icons options and check “Use SEO Friendly Images plugin”. You just have to put whatever you want in the ALT field, but it’ll be for all the images/icons, not one in particular. I’ll see if I add this feature in a next version…

    This plugin was just referred to me and I am looking forward to using it. My categories are not in any particular order and I would like to remedy that.

    @Rick

    Just install the My Category Order (see the link in the news) and go to the category icons widget to select use my category order.

    I installed 2.0.7 and My Category Order, but I do not see an option under Apperance>Widgets>Category Icons for selecting my category order.

    Nevermind, it was an ID10T error. I fixed it.

    Hey there. I’ve been using cat-icons on two sites now, and it’s great — but I just ran into the most bizarre behavior. Suddenly the icons are showing up as Xs in Safari; in Firefox, they load up… and then promptly disappear! I’m sure it’s a conflict with some other plugin, but it’s a crazy behavior. Is there any chance you’ve ever heard of this kind of conflict/behavior in the past, and any idea what caused it — or even just places that might be conflicts, that I could use to narrow down the troubleshooting? I’ve cleaned out all plugins added in the past two hours, even cleaned out the db tables that got added with those plugins… and still, in FFx, the icons load up, and then one by one blip out. It’s really bizarre — and frustrating. Any ideas, at all?

    Okay, nm on that. Figured it out: something is conflicting with WP-PageNavi, and for whatever reason, the result is that the icons blip out. Who knows, but it’s a bummer, because I liked the WP-PageNavi plugin… but I know my users like the icons more!
